Joshua Bible Study Lesson 7

1.Read Joshua 1:1-9. What were the promises? What were the conditions? Until the time of Moses' death, God spoke to Moses. Now, He speaks to Joshua in the same manner He spoke to Moses. Notice, he is called Moses' minister. He had been an understudy of Moses for the entire 40 year journey. On some occasions, he had actually helped Moses with his ministry. The main attribute that caused God to choose him to succeed Moses, was his great faith. Joshua had some very big shoes to fill. Moses had been a prophet who was in close contact with God at all times. We see the first directive God gave to Joshua. They were to cross the Jordan into their land of promise. We remember from Deuteronomy that, God had shown Moses the land of promise. It was everything west of the Jordan, all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. It went as far as Lebanon in one direction, and as far as the beyond the Dead Sea the other. Wherever they set their feet in this area was theirs. The going down of the sun m...

Joshua Bible Study Lesson 8

1.What did God tell Joshua in chapter one about His presence? God said to Joshua, (v. 5) "As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you." These words were echoed in the book of Hebrews, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5) And they're similar to the last words spoken by Jesus on planet earth: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) Believers, whether you realize it or not, whether you acknowledge it or not, you are never out of God's sight. He sees you all the time. He's with you all the time. He watches over you all the time God said to Joshua and the people of Israel ... and he's saying to you: "Every step you take, every place you go, I am with you. In your victories and defeats, in your good times and your bad times, in your dark days and in your bright days, I am with you. You can count on me." A place of promise awai...

Joshua Bible Study Lesson 6

1.Read Deuteronomy 27:1-4. Blessing or Curse at Mt Elba & Mt Gerizim ? In a paragraph explain your understanding of these verses. Is obedience required? On that day — About that time, for it was not done 'till some days after their passing over. This law — The law properly so called, that is, the sum and substance of the precepts or laws of Moses, especially such as were moral, particularly the decalogue. Write it, that thou mayest go in — As the condition of thy entering into the land. For since Canaan is given only by promise, it must be held by obedience Mount Ebal — The mount of cursing. Here the law is written, to signify that a curse was due to the violators of it, and that no man could expect justification from the works of the law, by the sentence whereof all men are justly accused, as being all guilty of the transgression of it in one kind and degree or other. Here the sacrifices are to be offered, to shew that there is no way to be delivered from this curse, but by...
